The earth is young because the moon is moving away

PLANK #13 Because the moon is moving away from the earth

The rate at which the moon is moving away from the earth tells us that the earth/moon system could not have been in existence for 4.6 billion years. The centers of these two bodies are moving away from each other at a rate of 1.5 inches (3.7 cm) every year. This measurement, involving laser beams reflecting off the moon’s surface, has been used since 1980, when mirrors were placed on the moon for this purpose. Although 1.5 inches per year sounds insignificant, even simple math puts it at only half the distance it is now in 4.6 billion years. However, when one uses calculus, as in Plank 12, it soon shows us the results would be the same. It has to be a young system!
