When it comes to our books, we know the professional standards Christian authors need. Right. How do we deal with this? We learn what’s required and ask the Holy Spirit for help. You know the basic scenario.

• God has called you to write
• He wants you to share truth to your readers in fiction
• You and He are actively working together on discipline and spiritual growth

Remember He called you, and started all this. How can He not provide the wisdom, knowledge, and power to carry it out?

So He will enable you to produce those professional standards Christian Authors need

If He has called us, He will provide. However, I must do my part, and so must you. We need to train our eye to see. For example, we need to look at all the covers we can find in the genre in which we are writing. We need to discern the good from the bad. We need to look at the top sellers in our genre. We need to fill our brain with samples of excellence. Joel’s blog gave us an excellent overview of what you need for a cover this morning. Go read it and come back. We’ll wait.

OK! Now we’ve got ourselves to the place where we have a hope of recognizing an excellent book cover when we see it. Now you need to assess yourself.

We are constantly required to look at ourselves honestly and truthfully

If we do not know ourself, how can we possibly recognize our path? I published a free book over the weekend which talks about this process on a deeply spiritual level. Insatiable Desire gives us a remarkable look at God’s plan for each of us.

As we give ourselves completely to the Lord, He gives us freedom and liberty to understand ourselves and to see the path he has for us. It’s all about the same package. We are a new creation. God wants us to grow and He gives us desires and a vision of what to do to satisfy that desire. Yea, I know, my desire is also simply to be with Him. Oh Jesus! Come quickly!

But on the other hand, my desire is to help Christian authors write fiction with the power to transform lives. How the world needs that! So, as we go on this path together, let us know that he has a plan. He has all the power. He will supply our every need: spiritually, mentally, and physically.
