Constant spiritual warfare is the normal Christian life
Constant spiritual warfare is the normal Christian life, and that has increased in the years since I wrote this article. I read a short article in Charisma that day in 2017 about the Creep’s subtlety called Satan’s Subtle Strategy. I was struck again by the constant spiritual warfare of our life. It must always be one of the possibilities as we act and react throughout the day. This was what I was discussing last Sunday in Living within spiritual warfare.
In the macro world, it’s easy to see his hand. He sows discord—which certainly describes the American culture today. His prime tools are fear, confusion, lies, distrust, and so on. If you do not see that in your life and the world around you, pray for discernment. There are very few who escape it these days.
Constant spiritual warfare — no worries!
This is the paradox of our lives. The Creep prowls around LIKE a roaring lion, but he is not one. Jesus is the Lion of Judah. Satan’s just a liar. Jesus defeated him on the cross and gave us complete power over him in our lives. But it doesn’t just happen, we need to pray against him when the attacks occur. If you’re in doubt, pray in tongues and the Holy Spirit will give you discernment. If you want the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, ask Jesus for it. If you’re afraid of the spiritual gifts—shame on you. This is the Spirit Jesus sent to help us. Are you saying you don’t trust Him?
It doesn’t take screaming, shouting or angst. Simple, quiet, directly targeted prayer does it, instantly, every time. The demons and their boss may be able to scare you, but the Lord will deliver you every time. It’s not like medical healing. Spiritual warfare simply works.
But you must be aware that it’s a possibility
Irrational anger, for no reason, gives a clear indicator, for example. The same with irrational fear and dread. Hatred of anything other than the Creep, his cohort, and their ilk warns us clearly also.
When you see the problem—get rid of it! Yes, it’s constant spiritual warfare —coupled with easy victory. Relax! Jesus has it covered, like always.
