Step by step plot development remains exciting
I’ve found that step by step plot development remains exciting— for me. When I don’t what’s coming until the Lord shows me the title of the next chapter, the book comes alive for me. This is what makes it so much more fun writing rather than reading a book.
The Lord has been leading me through this new book in a new manner. I start the day with a new chapter looming. I have no idea where I should go with it. My focus is entirely upon what will make it powerful, causing transformational changes to a reader of the finished book. So, I don’t start writing until he gives me something, usually the title of the chapter.
Then I start writing. I’m amazed at how he puts things together and adds unexpected twists which make real differences in the lives of the characters. The quality of the writing is far beyond my puny capabilities. I often end the chapter by going into spontaneous praise and worship of a Lord who is so gracious and wise.
Step by step plot development keeps the story real & alive
As I write I can see that this is how the Lord would have done it if I were living the life of my character—whether he or she be good, evil, or simply confused. I guess I’ve lived long enough to recognize His hand at work. It is really thrilling for me.
This is what I look for in Christian fiction, and find so rarely. My prayer is that my readers experience the same thrilling ride. That’s my focus and my desire, that reader’s lives will be transformed. It’s getting so close to the end. I find my ears listening for the peal of the trumpet, as I rise through the sky. I’m looking forward to meeting so many of you.
What a wonderful wedding that’s going to be!
The Lord and His Bride become one—as He is with the Father and the Holy Spirit. What a glorious time.
