Boat stern sleeping revelation heals
The boat stern sleeping revelation heals when you see what was going on. The Lord works from different priorities than we do. His plans bring peace and healing.
The professional fishermen are panicking. They know how many other fishermen have died in a storm like this. It’s pitch black, surrounded by huge waves, roaring winds, in a large lake known for suddenly killing people like them out in a boat in the middle of the night caught by a storm.
The guy in the back of the boat is on a pillow sleeping. But what does he know? He’s only a carpenter from a hick town up in the hills. But supposedly he’s the one in charge. They better wake him and let him know it’s probably all over for the whole group of them.
The boat stern sleeping revelation heals when you see the whole truth
The story in Matthew begins with an interesting verse:
Now when Jesus saw large crowds around Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. Matthew 8:18 MEV
Jesus started it off by commanding that they go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. Did He know a storm was coming? Possibly. When they finally finished up and left, we see another interesting verse:
Then He entered the boat, and His disciples followed Him. Matthew 8:23 MEV
Jesus led them into the boat, and they followed. The next words are suddenly a great storm arose—well, that’s really not true, is it? It took a while for them to get that far out into the middle of the lake. Jesus had enough time to lay down, get comfortable, and fall asleep. This great storm never even woke Him up.
Now, we’ve all been in great storms. I’ve been woken in the middle of the night with a close lightning strike and a clap of thunder that almost hurts your ear. But they were outdoors. A house deadens the ruckus. But outside? How could Jesus be asleep?
Following the Father without worry or doubt…
Jesus was following Abba where He was supposed to go. He knew Dad had it covered. That wasn’t an arbitrary whim to go over and see the tombs on the other side. The Father had told Jesus to go there next.
In our lives, we are not to be making decisions on our own. We are supposed to move in close and see where the Father is going, where He wants us to follow. We follow His lead. That’s what Jesus was doing.
Are you following the Father?
If not, you need to get your priorities straight. We are all here on earth for a purpose. Only Jesus knows what that purpose is. If you are doing anything other than that, stop it!
Find out what the Lord is doing and follow Him!
The storm is irrelevant, of no lasting importance. It won’t even be remembered.
