The need for a Christian ebook distributor for self-publishers
The Kobo brouhaha, where they forced Draft2Digital to pull all their releases and took down all self-published uploads, is part of a move by Apple, Amazon, and Kobo to block rape, beastiality, and incest porn. As a sign of how bad the world has gotten, they are evidently not concerned about polyamorous sex and many of the other sins which sell so well. Well, maybe they will block those as well (but I’d be surprised). As believers we tend to forget that porn is so readily available. Of course, the amazing sales of 50 Shades of Grey and all which followed should have been no surprise. At least people can easily get sadomasochistic stuff.
But this again points out the need for someone to step up and offer the services of an ebook distributor for self-published Christian authors. CBD [Christian Book Distributors] has a severely restricted ebook offering. It requires their very limited ereader app. They will not accept self-published books. You must have your own ISBNs and bet set up as a traditional publisher [legal address, business bank account, and the whole nine yards]. Then they’ll think about it.
We need a Christian site to offer DRM-free ePUBs
These can be read on any ereader. Even for a Kindle, they are easily converted with Kindle Previewer. The resulting mobi file can be emailed to your Kindle account. It is getting increasingly difficult to find a resource for ebooks which is not littered with books that look good, but are actually simply filth.
Is anyone interested in getting something like this started?
I would really like to find a site where Christian: Thrillers was broken up into spec fic, spy & espionage, political, military, and techno, plus fantasy broken up into magic fantasy, nonexistent critters [werewolves, vampires, orcs, elves, and so on], and current reality [other world examinations of current reality]. I’d even review and vett books in the current thriller and fantasy categories. What are your suggestions?
