The anointing and holiness go hand in hand — easily
The holiness and the anointing go hand in hand. It’s supposed to be a normal part of the walk in the Spirit. But that’s rarely taught. We’ve all been fed a lie that stops us. We can’t be holy, we’re wretched sinners.
Yes, when we met Jesus we had just arrived from disgusting sinfulness. For a while we were overwhelmed with all the sin to get rid of. But for me, my Dad taught me a unusual solution.
I can ask the Holy Spirit to show me ALL my sins, repent of all of them, and be clean! At that point, the Lord has forgotten my sin, and I am forgiven. So, I am sin-free. In other words, I have no sin hanging over me interfering. I have no unknown sins, because I repented of everything the Lord showed me. I can ask the Lord to show me my sin any time, and I do it daily or much more. It still works, every time. Like most things,, it works by faith—the faith the Lord gives me.
I become pure, clean, and holy, by His grace. Surprisingly, it was no big deal. It doesn’t make me better, give me any brownie points, or anything like that. All it does is bring me back up to neutral. It’s like cleaning a house, or detailing a car. I am cleaned up, so demons have no hook in me to try and push me around. It doesn’t make me good, just clean. I’m still the reborn, ex-drug-crazed hippy, very strange artist and writer. I’ve learned that anything done out of myself is a waste of time—at best. I need the Lord to work through me. It amazes me that He’s willing to do that. Hallelujah.
What is the definition of holy?
Before you jump in, it doesn’t mean separated. That is, setting something apart to consecrate it for ceremonial or religious use. I give myself to Jesus to use for His purposes every morning. But, Strong’s Concordance tells us what the Greek word hagios or holy means: Sacred (physically, pure; morally, blameless; religiously & ceremonially, consecrated).
So, on a practical level, I do not care much about religiously & ceremonially consecrated. It’s just a part of my constant communication with my Messiah, by His Holy Spirit. What we are talking about here is much more simple than that.
When we ask the Holy Spirit to show us all our sin, and repent, we become holy: physically pure and morally blameless. As I’ve been saying, once we have repented of all the sin the Lord has shown us, we are completely cleaned up and holy — until the next time I sin. If we ask Him to show us all of it. Then when we repent, we’re repenting of all of it. And this becomes a daily habit. In the beginning, it was several times a day. But when the Holy Spirit shows me any problem, all I need to do is seriously repent, and get cleaned up again. Gradually you can get to the place where you are normally holy, with episodes of sin which are quickly dealt with. It’s all a gift from our Lord—we’re enabled to clean house, as it were..
So, anointing and holiness go hand in hand
When you mature, you get to a place like me. I’ve walked with the Lord for over fifty years. I don’t sin every day, anymore. When I do I immediately repent. I don’t want sin messing up my walk in the Spirit. I still check every morning. I still check every time before I ask for the anointing—often several times a day. I work creating things 10-12 hours a day, six days a week. [I’m an eighty year old widower.] But if I am holy, the anointing transforms my work. The anointing lifts me above neutral instantly.
The same Holy Spirit who enabled the scriptures to be written lives within you—if you are reborn. He loves to help IF you ask.
You probably won’t see or feel it. It’s all done in faith. I rarely feel it. But I look at the results of my writing or creative activity and I can clearly see things that are far beyond my abilities. It’s truly humbling. The Lord is so wise and filled with all knowledge. He can do things like this through you and me and we cannot even sense it with our senses. I’m so glad He called me.
Try it, it’s amazing. Being able to rely on the anointing is a remarkable blessing
It changes everything about your walk. You now know the Lord can bless you as much as He wants to do so. Your sin is cleaned up and not in the way. Working under the anointing is a truly wonderful joy.
