Review: Dragon warrior and the Princess by Celesta Thiessen 4star
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It was given to me as Christian fantasy/scifi. The first reaction was against the very low quality cover: blurred, mediocre font choice that is very hard to read at thumbnail size, the look of fear in the princess’ face is puzzling, the mountains are poorly done, and so on. It needs redoing.
A fun space opera!
For fantasy/scifi it was fun. The story is not complex and there were few surprises. It’s a very quick read [about 3 hours with several breaks]. Occasionally, I felt the language was too simple, almost bare bones. It may have been geared toward teens but it seemed sparse at times. However, I was still sucked into the story. There was no real sense of danger, but it was fun! Predictable in outcome, but enjoyable. I liked the book.
No spiritual merit
As for spiritual content, there was a lot of room to make that more clear, but it was just glossed over. There were some strong hints of true content, but they weren’t pursued at all. So, it is a clean, fun read with little violence and no sex or bad language. Spiritually, it was disappointing but that won’t affect non-believers.
Rating: 3.7 star, clean read, no spiritual merit
