Positioning Yourself in Reality
“Step One: positioning yourself in reality “spirit—soul—body”. Man always says: body—soul—spirit. Why? Because man is body conscious first, and knows little about this spirit, but knows a lot about the body. God always says: “Spirit, soul, and body” because His concern is primarily with the spirit. He is not too concerned about the body. It’s only the house that we live in; the vehicle.” John Follette
This brings to mind one of my favorite scriptures:
Now this I affirm and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds
This is where most of us are trapped. It’s a shock when we realize that we can’t even trust our thoughts except as we walk in the Spirit.
Positioning Yourself in Reality must be our first step in the Kingdom
Realizing our need for the Holy Spirit provided by the Lord allows us to recognize reality when we see it. This enables us to choose to act as we have been taught by His Spirit.
“But you did not learn about Christ in this manner, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off the former way of life in the old nature, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that you put on the new nature, which was created according to God in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:20-24 MEV
This is our task in life. We are to choose reality, as revealed by the Spirit within. By doing that, we learn who we are…each of us individually. This goes on throughout our life here on the planet.
I’ve been on an extensive renewal and rebuilding course for several years now. Many of the things I taught in my youth are now being walked as I strive for maturity under His wisdom and guidance. It’s been appalling to realize how much basic work I still need—after walking with the Lord for over four decades.
I’m beginning to understand who I am. I could tell you my understanding, but that’s between me and Him. I need to learn my gifts and calling, but that doesn’t help you. All I can say is that you need to do the same. Once you understand who you are designed to be, you can finally do what you are called to do. Only when we each fulfill our calling can we actually be helpful and loving. Then the world will see Jesus in our midst.
“Step One: positioning yourself in reality “spirit—soul—body”
We must get our priorities straight. If you are called to write, you must find out from Jesus what kind of writing fits your call. Only then can you produce anything useful. You must focus on the Head before He can use you fully.
Without concentration on your relationship with Jesus, He can’t mold you freely in His image. This is the glory of the Bride. Jesus wants to fit you into your designed place in the Temple. Get your spirit clean, so your soul (mind, will, & emotions) can be rebuilt under His anointing. Once that happens, your flesh and its senses can be helpful to your call.
As Jesus remakes you, He is glorified in your life. You can assume your place as a rightful, loving friend to Him and to His Body.
“Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the entire building, tightly framed together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God through the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22 MEV
This is the mystery Paul is always talking about: the Holy Spirit within us, the glory of the Church…His Body and Bride.
You were designed to fit a particular place in this
If you have been called as an author, it’s a serious thing. Your call will reveal itself in very specific books. Only the Spirit can show you the ideas, and guide you through the process without wasting your time and ours.
God didn’t call you to make a living. He covers that naturally as part of His promised blessing of His children. He has made you a special communicator to a specific group of people. He may never reveal the specifics of that to you, on this earth. But be assured, He has prepared good works for you to walk in.
Called as an author, those works involve your readers. You need to pray about these things before you start writing your next book. You should never be forced to rewrite because you missed what He was saying before you wrote it the first time.
If you write under His anointing, people’s lives will be changed. Your life changes also. This is how you grow to perfection—that maturity and completeness Jesus talks about saying, “be ye perfect…” We are to grow up into Him…the place He has made for the person He has designed you and I to be. That is truly an easy yoke and a light burden.
What a wonderful day it Is!
