Why I believe in a young earth: Reason #2
If you missed it we covered Plank#1 last week; Plank #2 for today is:
Because of General Revelation:
This is expressed in Romans 1:18-20 and other places also.
“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”
Note: God declares that all men (humans) are without excuse when it comes to acknowledging His existence!
Why? Because He has made it clear to all people!
How? He has made it clear by what He has made.
His acts of creation stand as proof, not mere evidence. The history of mankind has expressed this also, because every tribe and nation of people has always worshiped a god or some God as a supernatural being.
Atheism has never been a popular position. Those who declare such a position, usually early in life, are very likely to change as they age. On a deathbed, where one is only concerned with reality and honesty, many atheists have at least a change of mind, if not of heart.
Atheism should be viewed as an irrational stand
- Primarily because it fails the logic of the human mind (philosophy).
- Second, it violates laws of science, which we will get into later.
- Thirdly, it runs counter to all religious thoughts that hold to a divine being.
The above text mentions “from that which was made.” This is very interesting because those who specialize in the study of what God made are scientists. The study of the heavens is done by astronomers, the study of rocks, by geologists and of life forms, biologists, etc. One would think they would be leading the chorus of praise to the Creator instead of inventing ways to explain everything without God. God’s wrath is being directed toward them because of their godlessness for suppressing the truth of their subjects!
Let’s take, for example, things like the stars. When we study them in the science of astronomy, or rocks in the science of geology, or life in biology, of all these examples it can be said they are the study of God’s “General Revelation.”
