The Biblical account is true because Jesus said so
I’m including two of Roger Melquist’s planks in his platform on which our belief that the earth is young stands. These two planks are tied together by their focus on the truth of scripture.
PLANK #5
Because of the Orthodox Jewish calendar
What nation of people has been more meticulous about keeping records? The calendar they are still using is dated from the Genesis account of creation. They have no problem about accuracy. The entire Bible is a meticulous record by the Jews of the acts of God in the world. The deeper archealogy digs the more firmly the Biblical timeline is confirmed.
PLANK #6
Because Jesus Himself had no problem with the Old Testament being taken literally
He quoted it word-for-word. His disciples seemed equally comfortable. Some examples are:
- Creation itself
- Jonah and the fish
- His reference to Adam
- His reference to Abraham
- His reference to Noah and the flood
For those who questioned Jesus’ position, in Matthew 22:29, He replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.” How apt that answer is for today’s generation! What is really interesting is what Jesus didn’t tell the Jewish leaders. He never said, as today’s modernist preachers do, “You are in error because you take the account too literally.” In fact, He said every dot and tittle will be proven true and come to pass.
So, if it is not true then Jesus is a liar. But He’s not! He’s the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
