Blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes and perceive with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.” John 12:40 MEV You cannot be saved by figuring it out. The Lord will not allow it. Jesus told us that this is why He taught in parables.
“This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. With them indeed is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah which says: ‘You shall indeed hear but never understand, and you shall indeed see but never perceive.” Matthew 13:13-14 RSV
One of the worst positions in which a human can be found is that of the self-made. If you are self-made instead of God-made, you’re really in trouble. Self-will is the foundation of sin. Paul talks about this from another angle in the first letter to the Corinthians:
“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. God has chosen the weak things ofthe world to confound the things which are mighty…so that no flesh should boast in His presence.”
1 Corinthians 1:27 & 29 MEV
Your strength, your wit, your understanding cannot transform the life of your reader. You must give that up before God will transform your writing into a vehicle of power. Of course, it’s more than that. As long as your soul and flesh control your life, your chances of life with the Lord nosedive.
His mercy blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts
He can’t allow us to figure it out, because our self has no omniscient love. This is something God does to us and through us. He saves us from ourself—transforming us into a container of His Spirit. This is where real life emerges.
The Lord shared with us the following facts:
“Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life will lose it. And he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” John 12:24-25 MEV
You can’t figure it out. You must give it up into the hands of the truly trustworthy master. Then Jesus can work His wonders in you as He helps you realize your potential and grow into the prince or princess He designed you to be.
Losing the blindness naturally
The main reason for our freedom of choice shows up as we decide to believe or reject the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, the Lion of Judah. Then you start talking with Him, asking Him to show you the truth. Trusting Him absolutely goes against everything we’ve been taught. However, once you begin the conversation, you’ll see His eagerness to develop your relationship. Fight through the doubt, fear, and whatever else the Creep throws at you. Believe scripture as the actual product of God—delivered by His Spirit through the souls and flesh of His trusted children.
One of the last things Jesus told us before He was killed was this:
““I have told you these things in figurative language (veiled language, proverbs); the hour is now coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.”
JOHN 16:25 AMP
Once you know Him, your largest embarrassment will be found in the time it took to come to your senses.
