My new Christmas banner
My new Christmas banner after I decided that the one I used last year was too subdued. I’ve got a nice display space on the front of the ramp at my home, and I’m just not into decorating for Christmas, now that my wife has died.
So, I reworked last year’s banner to give it some more impact. I’m actually quite pleased, I think. We’ll see what it look like when it gets here.
My new Christmas banner
It’s a strange year, this year. I’m very aware that we might not even make it to Christmas. Jesus could call us home at any time — that’s what imminent means. The Lord has charged me with the task of getting the word out to those I know. This banner is part of that effort.
Last year was my first attempt. I have to admit, I liked it well enough to leave it up all year. I just took this shot a few minutes ago.
But from the sidewalk, it simply seemed to disappear. This year, the coming end is much more obvious and I want to warn people. The neighborhood is full of daily dog walkers and walkers in general. It’s hard to believe I’m actually living in the midst of suburban New York, in a small home. The biggest thing around here is that everyone mows their lawn once or twice a week — from March until November. I think my place is considered pretty disreputable. But, at my age, I’m doing the best I can. At least that’s what I tell myself.
So, I am hoping that the new banner might touch someone. Unlikely, I know. Visual assaults like this, to people I do not know at all, are unlikely to have much affect. But I will be praying. The Lord can do amazing things. We’ll see what he does with this new Christmas banner. It was fun to design, anyway.
Trust and obey God, even if you think (or the old devil tells you) it won’t make a difference. People will see this and they will be confronted with Truth. Sometimes that needs to happen. We speak the Truth in love, and people can say yes to it or no, but they cannot sit on the fence about a banner like this. Go for it.
Hi Ginny,
The Lord had me really get into it and extend it out into a message for the Bride as we get ready to get out of here. Here’s the link for the short free booklet I ended up writing on the topic. BTW, the response has been pretty good. Prayers that it will be effective would be good.
