Because the week of creation is strongly connected to other events

What is meant by the title? It is as if the weeks we live out regularly as just another cycle in the time frame of our lives are in reality an imprinted reminder by God of His creation. However, some say, as modernism declares, the “day” in Genesis doesn’t mean a 24-hour day. It is a long period of time, perhaps an entire era. To this we have two strong arguments. First, the Hebrew word yome is used. This word is the word of choice used to refer to a 24-hour day. Second, the wording used in Genesis 1 describes this “day” by “the evening and the morning were the first day.” This again refers to a 24-hour time segment.

Did you realize that all cultures everywhere live out their lives on a seven-day cycle? I understand the Soviet Union went on an eight-day week during wartime once for the purpose of increasing production. However, the people became so confused and disoriented they had to give it up. The seven-day week is a “type” for this finite time on planet earth. That is, man’s reign is for 6,000 years (six days) and then Jesus Christ returns, ushering in the millennium and His rule for 1000 years. (one day = a sabbath). Equating 1000 years as a day is used in Scripture mostly in prophetic utterances. The following are a couple of examples.

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 2 Peter 3:8

Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will lead us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in His presence. Hosea 6:1-2

Hosea’s prophecy is just for our time. The Lord allowed the Jews to be dispersed. They had no homeland from 70 A.D. to 1948. But after two days (2,000 years) He is bringing them back! Although it hasn’t been exactly 2,000 years yet, neither is the Lord done with the Zionist movement yet. Then notice that on the third day He will restore the Jews. They will accept Christ upon His coming so they may live in His presence during the millennium also!
