Shaken but not stirred: our greatest disaster
As I have sat here at my desk this morning after Sandy, my mind is almost numb and my spirit is quieted nearly sad. America has come through yet another shaking with no stirring of the heart. God’s call to repentance has yet again fallen on deaf ears.
Our greatest national disaster is our failure to repent!
We were strongly shaken eleven years on 9/11, but there was no national repentance from our leadership. Those of you who have read The Harbinger are well aware of my concern. Not only was there no repentance, there was defiance. “We will rebuild—even stronger,” was the word of the day from our national leadership.
We were shaken again on 9/11/2008 with the same response. President Obama even used to the same terminology speaking to congress for the first time. He then wrote defiant words on the top beam of the new Freedom Tower. No repentance. No call to prayer. No turning to the Lord.
Yesterday we were shaken again by Sandy
I was struck by the fact that there was no call to prayer, no call for intercession, and certainly no call for national repentance. The closest I heard was Romney’s “our thoughts and prayers are with the victims”. No power there, but then we know his beliefs—he’s doing the best he knows how.
Did anyone hear anything else? Or are we really in the deep dodo like I believe we are?
James Bond will not help us at all. Pray for our president.
